John Henry Girtman, 69 of Orlando, Florida passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018. John was born in Apopka, Florida on August 9, 1948. He graduated at Phyllis Wheatley High School in Apopka, FL. John retired as a Corpal Officer with the Orange County Correctional Facility. John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Isabell Girtman; son, Kervin Girtman, daughters, Sheryl Girtman, Sabrenia Girtman; brothers, Leo Girtman, Ronnie Girtman, George Girtman; sisters, Delores Jenkins, Barbara, Angenette and Special granddaughter Ciera Lowe. James Sampson
On Friday, March 23, 2018, Brother James Sampson answered the Master's call and went Home to rest in the arms of his Lord and Savior. James was born in Thomasville, Georgia on September 12, 1958, to John Henry and Julia Mae Johnson Sampson. Both of his parents and sister, Shirley Sampson Turner, preceded him in death.
James attended the public schools of Leon County and graduated from Rickards High School in 1976. Following graduation, James enlisted into the United States Army. After bravely serving his country, he was honorably discharged from military service. He had worked for the United States Postal Service, Florida A&M University (FAMU) and Florida State University (FSU).
At an early age, James accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church in Monticello. He recently rejoined Mt. Olive in 2016.

Sylvia Randell Jones
God summoned Sister Sylvia Randell Jones of Orlando, Florida home for her eternal rest on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Sylvia was born in Monticello (Jefferson County), Florida to Clyde and Bobbie Randell on December 21, 1964. Her formal education was obtained in the public schools of Leon County, where she graduated in 1982 from James S. Rickards High School with honors. Sylvia furthered her education at Florida A&M University, where she was awarded a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1988.
In December 1984, she married her high school sweetheart, Bennie Jones. God graciously blessed their union with three children, Akeem, Marcus and Breanna. Sylvia enjoyed working as a Pharmacist for over 30 years in various capacities. For the last 20 years, she served as a consulting pharmacist. She actively volunteered at health fairs, where she provided free counseling to senior citizens. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and participating in church activities. After the family joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in January 1992, Sylvia, along with her husband Bennie, were actively involved in Boy Scout Troop 603, where they devoted countless hours.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband Bennie Fitzgerald Jones and father Clyde Randell.

Gladys “Pretty Gal” Johnson Brown, 63, of Winter Springs, passed away March 27, 2016 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. She was born in Sanford and was a financial analyst. She was also a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Brown of Winter Springs; son, Edward L. Brown II (Robin) of Winter Springs; daughter, Shayla J. Brown of Deltona; brothers, Gary Williams (Betty) of Sanford, Eddie Lewis Williams (Ponda) of Sanford, Johnnie R. Johnson of Sanford, and Tonny L. Leonard was born in Monticello, Florida on June 24, 1957 to the late Reverend George W. Sr., and the late Deaconess Emma James Farmer. He attended the public schools of Gadsden Counties and Florida A & M University. Leonard was a member of Arnett Chapel AME Church; he served in U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant; he was a former employee of Decatur County School Board; and a Gadsden County Schools Retired Educator.

Pauline Farmer Henderson
Reverend Pauline Farmer Black Henderson, 82, of Quincy answered the Master's call on Monday, November 3, 2014. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 8 at Arnett Chapel AME Church, Quincy, with burial in Williams Cemetery. Viewing-visitation was 3-7:30 p.m. Friday, November 7 at Tillman of Tallahassee.
A Monticello native, she was the daughter of Reverend George W. Sr., and Mrs. Emma James Farmer, both now deceased. She attended the public schools of Jefferson and Gadsden Counties and later attended Edward Waters College and Lively Vocational-Technical School. She was a self-employed cosmetologist and a retired AME minister who pastored several area AME churches, including Ford Chapel AME, Monticello and Bethelonia AME, Tallahassee. Treasuring her love and memory are her daughters, Starlye Black Norwood and Glynic Black; stepson, Johnny Henderson Jr.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Mary Alice (Freddie) Bailey; brothers, Robert (Veraline), Leonard (Sallie), Thomas (Margaret), Marvin (Beverly) and Darrell Farmer; along with countless other relatives and friends.

A Monticello native, she was the daughter of Reverend George W. Sr., and Mrs. Emma James Farmer, both now deceased. She attended the public schools of Jefferson and Gadsden Counties and later attended Edward Waters College and Lively Vocational-Technical School. She was a self-employed cosmetologist and a retired AME minister who pastored several area AME churches, including Ford Chapel AME, Monticello and Bethelonia AME, Tallahassee. Treasuring her love and memory are her daughters, Starlye Black Norwood and Glynic Black; stepson, Johnny Henderson Jr.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Mary Alice (Freddie) Bailey; brothers, Robert (Veraline), Leonard (Sallie), Thomas (Margaret), Marvin (Beverly) and Darrell Farmer; along with countless other relatives and friends.

Robert Lee Forte, Sr.
Robert Forte, Sr., 83, of Plant City, Florida died March 4, 2008. Services were held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 am, St. Mary's Community Church, Plant City with interment following at Garden of Peace Cemetery in Plant City. The wake was held on Friday, March 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at New Grace Church.
Robert Lee was the fourth child of Troy and Minnie V. Morris Forte. He was born on Sunday, March 16, 1924 in Plant City, Florida. He joined Grace Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church on August 21, 1937 and became active in Sunday School and Epworth League (now known as Christian Youth Fellowship). In later years he worked diligently as a Lay Leader in the CME Conferences. He married Rosie Lee Perry on December 26, 1942 and to this union was born seven children, Margret, Benjamin, Rayfield, Lureline, Geraline, Robert Jr., and Stanley. He joined the U.S. Army on March 19, 1943 and served two years, 11 months. He returned home on February 19, 1946, honorably discharged. After working several jobs and on-the-job training under the GI Bill of Rights, he was hired at the then Coronet Phosphate Company. He worked there 11 years as a common laborer; 12 years as an operator and 12 years as a supervisor. He retired after 35 years with the company in 1986. During his lifetime, Bro. Forte was a devoted husband, father, Christian friend, and helper. He gave of himself selflessly not only for his local church but for the CME church as a whole. The church brought much joy and fulfillment to his life, but his greatest love was for his family and many friends. In death, Bro. Forte will be reunited with his wife, Rosie, his daughter, Lureline and son, Stanley.
Left to cherish his life and legacy are children, Margret, Ben (Jessie), Ray, Geraline, and Robert Jr. 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He also leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, George (Eddie Lee), Sam (Dorothy), and David (Margaret); one sister, Rosa Lee (Robert) Holston and special niece, Maggie Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to Betty (Mellie) Williams who was there through it all and walked with him until the end. Many thanks to grand-son, Jermaine, who stood in the gap. Robert Forte, Sr., 83, of Plant City, Florida died March 4, 2008. Services were held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 am, St. Mary's Community Church, Plant City with interment following at Garden of Peace Cemetery in Plant City. The wake was held on Friday, March 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at New Grace Church.
Robert Lee was the fourth child of Troy and Minnie V. Morris Forte. He was born on Sunday, March 16, 1924 in Plant City, Florida. He joined Grace Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church on August 21, 1937 and became active in Sunday School and Epworth League (now known as Christian Youth Fellowship). In later years he worked diligently as a Lay Leader in the CME Conferences. He married Rosie Lee Perry on December 26, 1942 and to this union was born seven children, Margret, Benjamin, Rayfield, Lureline, Geraline, Robert Jr., and Stanley. He joined the U.S. Army on March 19, 1943 and served two years, 11 months. He returned home on February 19, 1946, honorably discharged. After working several jobs and on-the-job training under the GI Bill of Rights, he was hired at the then Coronet Phosphate Company. He worked there 11 years as a common laborer; 12 years as an operator and 12 years as a supervisor. He retired after 35 years with the company in 1986. During his lifetime, Bro. Forte was a devoted husband, father, Christian friend, and helper. He gave of himself selflessly not only for his local church but for the CME church as a whole. The church brought much joy and fulfillment to his life, but his greatest love was for his family and many friends. In death, Bro. Forte will be reunited with his wife, Rosie, his daughter, Lureline and son, Stanley.
Left to cherish his life and legacy are children, Margret, Ben (Jessie), Ray, Geraline, and Robert Jr. 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He also leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, George (Eddie Lee), Sam (Dorothy), and David (Margaret); one sister, Rosa Lee (Robert) Holston and special niece, Maggie Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Rev. George Washington Farmer Sr., 91, a retired minister, of Quincy died Tuesday, March 2, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Emma James Farmer. Mother Cora Lee Isom Johnson, 81, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 20, 2002. Cora was born, October 14, 1921 to the late Mr. Robert Isom and Mrs. Elizabeth Byrd lsom in Monticello, Florida. She received her education in Jefferson County. She was married to Eddie Johnson, to this union six children were born. One son, Eddie Lee Johnson and a brother, Robert Isom, preceded her in death. She was a faithful member of the Church of God in Ocala, Florida until the time of her illness.

Chadrick Reshaud Mosley, 15, of Monticello died Monday, May 28, 2001. His Homegoing Celebration was held on Saturday, June 2, 2001 at Bethel A.M.E. Church with interment following at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Cemetery. Chadrick R. Mosley was born January 4, 1986 in Thomas County, Georgia. He gave us 15 years of happy times. He was converted at age 14 and was a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church where he was eager to serve.
He attended public school in Jefferson County. As a rising junior, the tall, slender Chad Mosley played on the junior varsity football and basketball teams at Jefferson County High. Ervin Lewis, a coach and teacher at the school, described Chad Mosley as “a top student, tenacious athlete and one of the best kids at this school. He was a great kid with great morals. He was just an excellent, humble kid who did whatever he was asked."

Lizzie Smith Johnson
On the morning of July 18, 1990, an angel of the Lord took Lizzie Smith Johnson to her final resting place. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 1990 at Junious Hill Missionary Baptist Church with interment following in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mother Lizzie Smith-Johnson was born on August 5, 1924 to the late Charlie and Mittie Smith in Monticello, Florida. She accepted Christ at an early age. She worked faithfully as a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. In the year 1963, she moved her membership to Junious Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. Lizzie was united in Holy Matrimony to James Johnson and to this union fourteen children were born and one (Shaun) preceded her in death.

On the morning of July 18, 1990, an angel of the Lord took Lizzie Smith Johnson to her final resting place. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 1990 at Junious Hill Missionary Baptist Church with interment following in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mother Lizzie Smith-Johnson was born on August 5, 1924 to the late Charlie and Mittie Smith in Monticello, Florida. She accepted Christ at an early age. She worked faithfully as a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church. In the year 1963, she moved her membership to Junious Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. Lizzie was united in Holy Matrimony to James Johnson and to this union fourteen children were born and one (Shaun) preceded her in death.

Shirley was born in Thomas County, February 5, 1961 to Ms. Julia Mae Sampson and Mr. John Henry Sampson. In 1972 she was converted and baptized under the pastorage of Rev. Johnny Bruce at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Monticello, Florida. In 1974, she joined Harrison Chapel A.M.E. Church under the pastorage of Rev. Otis Dixon. She later joined the Usher Board and served faithful until she became ill. She graduated from James S. Rickards High School in 1979. She was united in holy matrimony Nov. 28, 1987 to Clarence Turner. She was employed with the Department of Natural Resources.
